Ideally, most developers will advise you install newer versions of their software after uninstalling the old (current) version. Avant Browser is no different.
Is this really necessary?, absolutely not, however, it does prevent some of the problems associated with an "over-install" (aka upgrade).
Most users will be reluctant to do this as you can also lose any skins you've downloaded, along with your current settings. However, this can be avoided by simply backing up your skins folder, and Avant Browser settings (see
Backing up your Avant Browser Settings
)
